Topic written by Habib: Do you need to have a computer on when using google cloud?

Hello,

I have a network printer that I am trying to hook up onto google cloud. What I’ve been doing is going to “add a classic printer” and adding the printer to my gmail account that way.

However, whenever I log out of my gmail account and try to print with my smartphone (which has a google cloud printing app) none of the print jobs go through. It seems to only work when I am logged into my gmail account.

Is this how it is supposed to work? Or am I doing something wrong? Is there anyway I can hook up my network printer to google cloud so that I can print to it directly, without having to be logged into a gmail account? It does not have air print or eprint capability, it is just connected to the router via an ehternet cable.

Many Thanks.

You’d have to have one of the newer internet e-printers:

e-printers connect directly to the internet so you can print from most any device. Printers connected to your own home network or computer do not have that capability and need the computer & applications running in order to print.

You will need to be logged into the Gmail account so that the printer is able to get the signal to print the documents. This means that you also need to switch on your computer.

Be sure good?
