Quandary merely by harish: What is scanning speed of multifunction printer?

I tried looking for dozens of multifunction printers technical specs. HP, Epson, Canon and some more brands. They all talk about “Printing” speed. But nowhere information about how much time to scan a picture or a standard size b/w document. Any one can tell by experiece what is a scannig speed for HP inkjet model 6500? Will it be useful to scan mortgage document (about 100 pages ) in 5 to 10 minutes?

The reason none of them talk about scanning speed is because there is no way to give an accurate estimate. When you scan a document you have an option on what DPI you want to scan it in as. This can be as low as 300 all the way up to 3000+ depending on the printer. This setting is almost entirely responsible for how fast or how slow it will scan the document. If you choose 300 DPI it would generally take between 20-40 seconds to scan and transfer to your computer, but if you choose say 2400 DPI it would take between 11-13 minutes. All-in-one printers will generally all have the same scan speed, at least for ones in the same generation. Like a printer that’s 5 years old will not be exactly as fast as one that was just released, but an HP that was made this year and a Epson that was made this year would only differ by seconds if any.
