Issue basically by Libalsal: How to install a printer on a Mac?
I recently got a Mac and now am trying to get used to it. I want to install a printer. I plug in the cable and send some photo to print. A printer icon pops up in Dock and shows the document with “Printing” status. Then the document disappears from the queue, and nothing is printed! It seems like the printer doesn’t receive the command from the computer.

C’mon, It seems like you need to INSTALL the software that came with it… Unplug the printer from the USB, before installing it… If you installed it with the USB pluged in, it wont work. Try re-installing it and plug it when the software asks you to do so…

Your Mac came with many, many printer drivers to choose from, but if there isn’t one included for your specific printer, you need to actually install the software that came with your printer before you can do anything with it. Without doing that, it’s going to be very tough to print anything, especially if you’re dealing with an ink jet printer.
Find the software and instructions that came with the printer, follow the directions to install it, then test it out. It should be plug and play, unlike Windows’ plug and pray ritual. It’s not hard.
